You don’t need all the fancy gear to make something amazing!

Do you want to create, but you don’t have all the fancy paints or papers or whatever other materials you think you need?

I’m here to tell you that you don’t need all of that.

I have a confession to make, I don’t use expensive paints or paper to create my pieces. Most of my paint is from walmart or a thrift store. Those cheap assorted packs, yep, that’s most of my paints. And my paper and canvases are mostly purchased from walmart.

Fancy materials will not make you paint or draw better, you are what makes you paint or draw better. By practicing and loving what you are making, you can make your pieces so much better! Now, don’t get me wrong, expensive paints do make a difference in vibrance or the way they flow, and fancy paintbrushes may make the paint go on a little better, but that doesn’t have anything on your capabilities.

I’ve talked to so many people that say that they can’t paint well because they only have cheap supplies, but they’ve only picked up a paint brush a hand full of times. You just have to start! With what you have. Even if you just play, make blobs or cute little doodles, get the paint flowing.

I am notorious for going straight to the final piece, not practicing and then hating how the piece came out. There is so much more that goes into a painting, your heart, your mindset, your motivation. Much more than just the paints or brushes that you are using.

So if you’ve been wanting to paint, but are making the excuse that you don’t have the right tools to start with, stop it. Pick up that paintbrush and pour out your paints and get to it! Have fun and create something. Art doesn’t always have to be good, but you are one step closer to expressing yourself with a paint brush with each brush stroke.

I hope this inspires to pick up a paint brush, pencil, marker or whatever you have lying around and create.
